Labor has always been the most expensive and unpredictable variable for restaurant owners. The recent super-low unemployment rate is exacerbating the issue, forcing management to think outside the box, In San Francisco there are now stores where you can get meals without ever interacting with a live human being. And these meals include freshly made-to-order sandwiches and such. Names like Eatsy come to mind.

 

However, Chinese establishments have taken it to a whole new level. Humans are behind the scenes but robots make the experience in the new-age restaurants popping up in the mainland.
